It made headlines when Ted Haggard was accused of having sex with a male, but now Ted Haggard isn’t going to let that keep him from continuing on in the ministry. This is why Ted Haggard who is the former pastor of New Life Church is starting a new church in Colorado. He made this announcement from his Colorado home. Reports are that Haggard will preach monogamy and heterosexual marriage as what God wants, while also noting that all people make mistakes. Haggard stands against what is known as gay marriage and won’t perform such ceremonies.
In the meantime, Haggard has had much counseling since the time he was dropped to his lowest over the homosexual sex scandal, and it is reported that psychologists have found him to be heterosexual however confused due to childhood incidents where he was molested by a male. Of course, this can confuse a child tremendously and if not dealt with, will follow them into adulthood as there are many instances of this, even in the example of gospel singer Donnie McClurkin who told his story of homosexuality and molestation at a young age. Though Ted Haggard recalls the molestation, he doesn’t hold that as an excuse for his actions at all.
Ted isn’t calling himself minister or pastor, but simply reaching out to those who may need help or have fallen. He doesn’t feel qualified to have the same title as he once did prior to the sex scandal.
On that note – God will send who He will send. It is always very sad to see scandal destroy the lives of those who are known to do well. In that so called destruction, however, God has a way of making good from bad. This is shown from the time of Genesis to Revelation, the death in Garden of Eden to God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. No man has to die in sin.
