When you think you have heard all there is to be heard, there is a bit of news that floats by the eyes that makes one think of sex and when to have it plus who to tell. A woman has been terminated from her place of employment because co-workers found out that she had premarital sex with her future husband, the man that she would marry in just three weeks.
To paint the picture, Jarretta Hamilton, a 39 year old Florida teacher who used to work for Southland Christian School in Florida was fired after she requested maternity leave when her daughter was born. Upon the request, supervisors asked her when exactly was it that she got pregnant, and when Jarretta Hamilton revealed that she was pregnant three weeks prior to her marriage, that was deemed unacceptable and grounds for termination at this Christian school.
In a letter the school administration wrote to Hamilton’s lawyer, the school noted that she was fired because she had premarital sex and she agreed upon being hired that she would adhere to Christian standards of living. On top of that, the letter then knocked her relationship with God by stating “We request that Jarretta withdraw her case and consider the testimony of the Lord.”
Just stopping right there is already a mouthful and a mouthful of un-Christian like values in itself. First off the top, premarital sex is a sin in God’s eyes, no questions asked. In this particular case, however, one has to wonder just how many of the “gossiping” Christians had ever had sex before marriage prior to working at this school? Hmmm. “Gossiping” Christians is stated as such because even before Jarretta was questioned and terminated, apparently everyone was talking about it at the school and knew about her relations, according to the letter, which would then classify as not tending to your own affairs as the Bible states it. 2 Thessalonians 3:11
Indeed, we hear that some among you are disorderly [that they are passing their lives in idleness, neglectful of duty], being busy with other people’s affairs instead of their own and doing no work.1 Thessalonians 4:11
To make it your ambition and definitely endeavor to live quietly and peacefully, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we charged you,
On top of the pots calling a kettle black, it also seems a bit condemning to terminate a person and then tell them to search out their relationship with God on the basis of this. All men come short, and even in the case of adultery, yes, Jesus knew the adulterous woman was wrong and living in sin, however, He forgave her and told her to sin no more. Everyone else around Jesus who was imperfect toss their stones to the side as their judgment of stoning to death would have condemned to death them as well.
Maybe the best solution to this would have been of forgiveness, minding their own business and even happiness that the couple will turn what was wrong into an approved action of marriage which is holy before God. That is far better than the couple splitting and ending up committing more acts of fornication along with a split home for a new child. Better yet, how about leaning on what the Bible says about considering yourself before actually giving rule or sentencing someone else. The judgment may not be that harsh after that because as one judges so may he also be judged by God. (See scripture below)
Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
The sentence was carried out in this case, and it seems the Christian school is satisfied with their actions, but of all the people at that school, surely someone, even possibly those who ordered the dismissal has possibly had a misstep in the past or present, but thanking God no one found out! The job of the school should have been to restore her to a better condition, which she already was going to do, through marriage, and then help her in other issues if need be as well. RESTORE not FIRE.
Be careful of the sentence or judgment ordered on anyone – it could be you next! Remember to treat actions and people differently. People are not sin.

God is the last to judge. That was not right. God will have the last say so. The devil is busy working. He know he doesn’t have a lot of time to go. Just because the school claim to be a christian school. That doesn’t make them Christ-like. There actions were not of the Spirit, but of the flesh. So you know that wasn’t God….. Everyone sins but how can the do that in the school
